Saru Modifier Al-Sr (Tablet/Cut length):
Product:
Saru Modifier-Sr 10% is modifier for Al-Si for eutectic aluminum alloys. They are particularly suited for all alloy properties, gravity die castings such as cylinder heads, manifolds, aluminium alloy wheels etc., The purpose of modifying eutectic Al-Si alloy is to change the acicular form of silicon to a spherical or globular form. The modification treatment improves the mechanical properties in both the as cast and heat-treated condition.
Advantages:
Al-Sr modifier has following advantages:
- Improves mechanical properties
- Increases resistance to fatigue
- Improves casting machinability
- Preventing oxide build-up on furnace walls
- Reduces hot tears
- Increase feeding rate of aluminum melt
- Reduce cracking in rolled & forged products
Application:
Prepare the desired alloy composition. Follow the normal fluxing and cleansing procedure recommended for using suitable flux from Saru flux range. Degas the melt with a suitable grade of D’GASSER and dross off. After degassing operation, add Saru Sr-10 modifier depending on the melt size and rabble it to ensure homogeneity of the composition. Wait for minimum 10 minutes for modification effect to take place. Take a sample for checking the modification effect, if satisfactory start the cast.

Precaution:
Degassing and fluxing using chlorine-based products must be avoided after modification using Saru-Sr-10; otherwise, it results in strontium loss in the melt.
Saru ATB (3:1/5:1/10:2) (Tablet/Cut length/ Coil form) Grain-Refiner:
Product:
Saru ATB (3:1/5:1/10:2) is a grain refiner for Al-Si hypo-eutectic alloys, it is available in compositions 3:1/5:1/10:2 i.e., 3/5/10% titanium and 1/1/2% boron. Saru ATB (3:1/5:1/10:2) is recommended for grain refining aluminium alloys. Saru has a wide range of ATB grain refiner form as shown below:
Saru Master Alloy |
Application |
ATB 3:1 (Tablet/Cut length/Coil) |
Ti 3% B 1 % balance Al (for Grain Refinement) |
ATB 5:1 (Tablet/Cut length/Coil) |
Ti 5% B 1 % balance Al (for Grain Refinement) |
ATB-10:2 (Tablet/Cut length/Coil) |
Ti 10% B 2 % balance Al (for Grain Refinement) |
Function:
Generally aluminium and its alloys solidify in heterogeneous manner to give coarse dendritic structure. Coarse grain structure imposes problems like poor mechanical properties, poor feeding characteristics, and gives poor response to surface and heat treatment processes Saru Master Alloy ATB (3:1/5:1/10:2) is recommended to overcome many of the above problems. Being metallic in nature, ATB (3:1/5:1/10:2) dissolves readily in molten aluminium alloys and thus gives more consistent results as compared to salt-based grain refiners. Use of Saru ATB (3:1/5:1/10:2) is far more environment friendly than the conventional salt-based grain refiners. Since no chemical reaction is involved, crucible life can also be improved.
Advantages of Saru Master Alloy ATB (3:1/5:1/10:2):
- Improves mechanical properties such as yield strength, tensile strength and elongation
- Increases resistance to fatigue
- Improves casting machinability
- Reduces hot tears
- Increase feeding rate of aluminum melt
- Reduce cracking in rolled & forged products
Application Rate:
As per recommendation.
Packing:
Available in 200gm tablets, Cut rod 200gm and Coil-9.5 mm diameter
Note:
Application rate can vary depending on the casting process, alloy composition, section thickness and solidification rate of the casting. Wait for minimum 5 to 10 minutes for grain refining effect to take place.
